Narrative Arc

My documentary will be to see the benefits and disadvantages of social media are. This is going to be aimed at teenagers and how social media affects their lives. 

I'm trying to show the different benefits and disadvantages to people. For example if people only see things wrong with social media i could inform them of the benefits of social media which could change their opinion but they are able to make up their own minds overall. 

I will achieve this by having interviews with my target audience and get their opinions to make it fair since it is for the audience after all. Also by including the audience it might make it more engaging. 

There will be a concluding statement to my documentary however i must conduct the interviews first because it will determine on the information and feedback that i receive back therefore it will be an overall conclusion.

Section 1 - Introduction

Who? - Mercedes Harrison 

What? - Small introduction on what my documentary is about and what I plan to achieve from the documentary 

Where? - In School - LBTS 

Why? - This is to inform and engage my audience by telling them exactly what I will be trying to do therefore its easier for the audience to understand

Duration? - One minute


Section 2 - Facts & Graphs

Who? - Voice over of me - Mercedes Harrison 

What? - Facts and graphs on social media. For example how many people use social media 

Why? - To inform my audience which they may find engaging if they like social media as well 

Duration? - 30 - 45 seconds 


Section 3 - Interview 

Who? - Mercedes Harrison (Interviewer) and Christiana Opadeji (Interviewee) 

What? - Interview on her opinions on social media. Also some questions on her own website that she has. Also i will ask if she thinks that social media is beneficial or not 

Where? - In school common room - LBTS 

Why? - To see other people's opinions. Also it's in school since it relates to people who are in school 

Duration? - 3 - 4 minutes 


Section 4 - Actuality footage

Who? - People walking dow the hallway in school 

What? - Walking down the hallway in school with friends

Where? - In school - LBTS 

Why? - To show that teenagers in school are more interested in social media then socialising verbally with friends

Duration? - 1 minute 


Section 5 - Pictures & Statistics 

Who? - Voice over of me - Mercedes Harrison 

What? - Pictures on social media and some statistics on those social media networks

Why? - To inform my audience and make them aware but try not to be boring by having a dull voice

Duration? - 30 - 45 seconds 


Section 6 - More Interviews with a professional 

Who? - Mercedes Harrison (Interviewer) Marco Tranchino and Mr Betiku (Interviewee) - ICT teachers 

What? - Their own opinions on social media and if they find social media beneficial

Where? - In school LBTS 

Why? - Because it will seem more interesting and more education coming from professionals who work with computers and internet for a living

Duration? - 3 - 4 minutes 


Section 7 - Conclusion 

Who? - Mercedes Harrison 

What? - Conclusion of an overall opinion if social media is beneficial or not and why 

Where? - Outside school - LBTS 

Why - To inform the overall conclusion from the information and feedback that we have received back 

Duration? - 2 - 3 minutes
